What good IELTS study material looks like
Before you download one more file, check that your material meets these basics:
- It matches the real test format. Question types, timing and word limits should match the current IELTS, and for most candidates that means the computer-delivered version.
- It matches your track. Academic and General Training differ in Reading and Writing Task 1.
- It explains answers. A list of answers without reasons does not teach you why you were wrong.
- It gives feedback on Writing and Speaking against the four official criteria.
- It is organised. You should know what to do today, not search through 40 folders.
Shared PDFs and old photocopies often fail on several of these points: outdated formats, missing answers or poor audio.
Our Study Notes and tools
IELTS Learning includes Study Notes: strategy chapters for each module, explaining the question types, common traps and approaches that work. They are written to be read in short sessions on a phone.
Other tools on the platform:
- Mistake Notebook: every wrong answer is saved automatically for review.
- English Improvement: grammar and vocabulary lessons for the areas that keep showing up in your feedback.
- Spaced-repetition vocabulary flashcards: words come back just before you forget them.
- Personal study plan: a schedule based on your target and test date.
- Quick Wrap: a last-minute checklist for the days before your test.
Full Access unlocks all of these plus 15 mock tests and all practice sets, for ₹999 for 2 months.

Using Cambridge IELTS practice books alongside our tests
Many students also use the official Cambridge IELTS practice books, which you can find in college bookshops in Mangalore or order online. They are a useful source of authentic practice, and our tests follow the same official format, so the two work well together.
A sensible way to combine them:
- Use Cambridge tests as checkpoints. Take one under exam conditions every two or three weeks and compare it with your mock scores.
- Use our platform for daily practice and feedback. Practice sets, Writing feedback on all four criteria and Speaking transcript feedback fill gaps that a book cannot.
- Practise the computer format here. The books are paper-based. If you plan to sit the computer-delivered test, practise navigation, highlighting and typing on our screens.
- Keep one mistake record. Note errors from the books in the same place as your Mistake Notebook, so you see patterns across both.
A weekly study routine for Mangaluru students
This routine assumes about an hour on weekdays and two or three hours at the weekend. Adjust it around clinical postings, lab work or office hours.
- Monday: one Listening practice set (30 minutes) and Daily Vocabulary.
- Tuesday: one Academic or GT Reading passage, timed, plus explanations.
- Wednesday: one Writing Task 2 with AI feedback.
- Thursday: Speaking Parts 1–3 using prompts and the cue-card timer.
- Friday: one Study Notes chapter and a Mistake Notebook review.
- Saturday: a full mock test or a Cambridge practice test.
- Sunday: rest, or rewrite the week's essay and review flashcards.
Making the most of local study habits
Students in Mangaluru are used to serious study: entrance exams, university exams and long hours in college libraries. Bring that discipline to IELTS, but change the method. Reading the same strategy chapter five times will not lift your band; using it on a timed set and checking what went wrong will. IELTS rewards practice under time pressure and reflection on mistakes, not memorising notes.
- Form a small study group with friends from your college to discuss Speaking topics in English once a week, even over a cup of tea after class.
- Use the bus ride from Pumpwell, Kankanady or Surathkal for flashcards.
- During monsoon weekends, when going out is difficult, schedule your full mock.
