What good IELTS study notes look like
Plenty of IELTS notes circulating in hostels and office groups are outdated, inaccurate or simply copied lists of "high-scoring words". Good notes share a few features.
- They match the current test format: 40 Listening questions in four parts, three Reading passages in 60 minutes, two Writing tasks in 60 minutes, and a three-part Speaking test of 11 to 14 minutes.
- They explain strategy, not just answers. Knowing why an answer is NOT GIVEN is more useful than knowing that it is.
- They are short enough to revise. A chapter you can reread on one metro ride is more useful than fifty pages you never open again.
- They separate Academic and General Training where the two differ, so you do not learn letter formats when you need graphs, or the other way round.
Be wary of anything that promises a "secret formula" or a list of essay templates. Examiners are trained to spot memorised language.
Our Study Notes and learning tools
IELTS Learning includes Study Notes: strategy chapters for each module, written to match the official format. They cover how each question type works, how to manage time, and what the examiner looks for in Writing and Speaking.
Alongside them you get:
- English Improvement: grammar and vocabulary lessons aimed at the errors that cost IELTS marks, such as articles, tenses and collocations.
- Vocabulary flashcards that use spaced repetition, so the words you find hard come back more often.
- Mistake Notebook: every wrong Listening and Reading answer saved automatically, so your own errors become your most valuable notes.
- A personal study plan that spreads your work across the weeks before your test.
- Quick Wrap, a last-minute checklist for the days before the exam.

Using Cambridge IELTS practice books alongside our tests
Many students also use the official Cambridge IELTS practice books, which are easy to find in the bookshops of Sector 18 and around the Greater Noida campuses. They are good material, and you do not have to choose between them and online practice.
- Use the Cambridge books for paper-style practice, especially if you have booked the paper-based test.
- Use our mocks for computer-delivered practice: the timer, navigator, highlighter and drag-and-drop on our screens follow the same official format, just on screen.
- Do not repeat the same book test. Once you have seen the answers, a retake measures memory, not skill. Fresh tests give honest scores.
- Check Writing differently. The books contain model answers but cannot mark your essay. Our AI feedback, or a teacher session from ₹299, can.
A weekly study routine for Noida
This routine assumes about six to eight hours a week, which suits most college students and working professionals in Noida. Adjust for exams, sprints or shoots.
- Monday: one Reading set (40 minutes) and ten minutes reviewing the Mistake Notebook.
- Tuesday: one Listening set at a desk with headphones, plus a Study Notes chapter read on the Blue Line or Aqua Line.
- Wednesday: one Writing Task 1, timed at 20 minutes, then read the AI feedback.
- Thursday: fifteen minutes of Speaking practice out loud, including one Part 2 cue card under the timer.
- Friday: English Improvement lesson and flashcards. Light, because Friday evenings in Noida rarely go to plan.
- Saturday: one Writing Task 2 (40 minutes) or a full mock every second week.
- Sunday: review the week, redo three Mistake Notebook questions, and read one blog post.
Add Daily Vocabulary every day; it takes two minutes.
